Day 1Arrive Fukuoka Airport.
Make your own way to your hotel by subway (journey time 6 minutes; fare payable locally). Free time in Fukuoka.

Day 2Check out. Use the tickets provided to transfer to Nagasaki by direct express train (journey time 2 hours). 
Visit Nagasaki Peace Park, the nation's oldest wooden Christian church, Oura Tenshu-do and Nagasaki Museum of History and Culture.

Day 3Check out. Use the tickets provided to travel to Uzen Onsen by direct bus (1 hours 30 minutes). Unzen Onsen is a popular hot spring resort 727 metres above sea level. Its active volcano, mountains and stunning peaks are a major attraction. Stay in a Japanese style hotel with hot spring baths. This evening you will be served a delicious dinner of your choice.

Day 4Check out. Use tickets provided to travel to Shimabara to visit the Shimabara castle, the old samurai building. Shimbara is known for its fresh spring water streams and is home to hundreds of brightly coloured Japanese carp. Shimabara “The City of Swimming Carp”.
In the evening, take the ferry to Kumamoto.

Day 5Free time in Kumamoto. We recommend a visit to Kumamoto castle, Suizenji Garden, accessible by local tram. Kumamoto Traditional Crafts Centre, for great variety of folk arts and crafts such as woodworks, ceramics, bamboo crafts and cutlery. You can purchase some lovely hand-made goods here.

Day 6Check out. Take direct express bus to travel to Takachiho (3 hours). Take a bus or walk to Takachiho Gorge with its impressive ravine forged by the volcanic activity of Mt Aso; with countless cascading waterfalls. The most scenic Manai waterfall can be reached by rental boat.
Visit Takachiho Shrine, where Yokagura (sacred Shinto dance and music) is performed every night. Stay at luxury Japanese style inn

Day 7Check out. Take direct bus to Takamori station. Continue on the Minami Aso Railway, running along the side of Mt Aso caldera (35 minutes). Enjoy breathtaking views from Tateno Bridge on the valley. Carry on by bus to Kurokawa Onsen (2 hours) – a charming hot spring town with atmospheric inns and outdoor baths.
In the evening you will be served a traditional kaiseki style dinner in your room.

Day 8Free time in Kurokawa Onsen. We recommend that you get a "Bathing Pass” that allows you to try out three different baths in the town.

Day 9Check out. Use tickets provided to take direct bus to Fukuoka.
